FIREFIGHTERS' COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL

This
commemorative medal has been struck in the memory of Firefighters worldwide
who made the supreme sacrifice in the call of duty. The World Firefighters
Games Governing Body struck this medal to coincide with the Christchurch 2002
Games, respectfully referred to as 'The Memorial Games'.
Although the events at the World Trade Centre were the inspiration of this
concept, it is with honour that we remember all fellow Firefighters who have
laid down their lives to help others.
Since its inception in 1990, the World Firefighters Games has continued to
remain a forum for developing new friendships and fostering existing comradeship
amongst participants worldwide. The Brotherhood of Firefighters feel heartfelt
sorrow when they lose one of their own, no matter what corner of the earth
they come from, and this was no more evident than at the France 2000 Games.
Five Firefighters were killed in two separate incidents during the short duration
of these Games. The sombre mood at this festive time demonstrated how fragile
we are in the profession we have chosen.
Firefighters from around the world are continually laying down their lives.
'THIS MEDAL IS WORN IN THEIR HONOUR'
Due to an overwhelming demand, the World Governing Body has reconsidered its
decision to limit production of the medal to enable Firefighters who were
unable to attend the Christchurch 2002 Games to purchase a Commemorative Medal.
Cost: To secure its continued production, medals
have been priced at $AU30.00 each (plus postage and handling). Any profits
will be donated to the Burns Unit at the Children's hospital.
Payment: Credit Card - please quote credit card number, card holder's
name and expiry date.
